PROFESSIONAL TOOLKIT: Preparing for Auditions

After having posted the initial casting call, and after having our actors workshop with Nigel i further researched in to what i had to do for the audition.

First i sent a message out to each talent who applied asking them to send me an email with their information, so then i could send them the audition details. This would make actors who are committed to further stand out.

Then, i replied to applicants that sent me an email with the following:
Hello, and thank you for responding to our casting call.

The auditions will take place at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey on the 17th of November in room G03 (don’t worry, somebody will be waiting for you in reception to help you find the room). Your audition slot as you mentioned is at 12pm.

This should help you find the university.

During the audition we shall ask to to improvise your character’s actions.
The main thing you need to know is that your character is trapped into consumerism, constantly buying new gadgets that are useless and overpriced, and he knows this but is too addicted to escape.
We want to see the character’s slight frustration, overwhelming fear and sadness of the situation he’s in.

We look forward to seeing you. If you need any more information just send me an email or call me.
The reason i opted for improvisation was because i wanted to observe how each actor interprets our character.

Some say he’s half man half fish, others say he’s more of a seventy/thirty split. Either way he’s a fishy bastard.
