Films Screened:
- London Orbital (2002)
Chris Petit & Iain Sinclair
Notes: Personally it seems like the filmmaker is commenting on the dullness of the M25. He does this by showing footage of the motorway's endlessness, and how this may cause a range of emotions. He is also briefly comments on the criminality and surveillance that occurs on the motorway. It also follows a series of people that investigate the stories behind the M25, figuring out if it's lifeless of not...
Its also comparing the differences between the walking and driving experience.
- Measures of Distance (1988)
Mona Hatoum
Notes: Its seems like someones journey, portrayed through letters. The letters have been overlaid over the images, therefore it is apparent from the very beginning that this is originating from a letter. It could be interpreted as a way to raise awareness about the war. - The Frame (Documentary)
Chris Welsby
Notes: The artist uses nature to drive his films. He does not just film nature, but incorporates the forces of nature, such as the wind or the sun, in contraptions used to control the camera.
