PROFESSIONAL TOOLKIT: First studio workshop & casting calls
Today was our first day in the studio, and with Anne and Chris's help we set up the flats in order to get a rough idea as to what the set would look like, and how we should go about lighting it.
It was really nice to finally physically help build the set.
With the entire team's help, we assembled two walls composed out of 4 flats, two support flats and one more support in the centre.
After a talk with Rob and Lucy, we decided to angle the left wall in order to create a false perspective, and give a sense that our walls are closing in more.
After testing out a couple of shots we decided that we needed tracking markers on the green screen. Whilst me and Rob were doing that Lucy was measuring the set size in order to assist us in post.
Also as a temporary flooring we used some upside down floor paper
Remembering a few gallery photo references I'd seen, I decided to add some "spotlights" to better illustrate the "gallery" look. Chris Pinock, our studio manager suggested we use the studio lights, but instead of having them overhead, we should put them on the opposite sides of the wall, and use the matte boxes to create the "stip" of light
A roughed out version of our set.
Talking with rob we agreed on the positions of the tracking markers and went over a few shots.
To test out our greenscreen we filmed a couple of test shots, and i should have them by Monday.
Lastly we have had some replies to our casting call, and we should be having a team meeting soon to look at the applicants.
