SAFETY:
Electricity
- Beware of exposed cables, keep unused plugs switched off.
- Don’t overload the circuits.
Heat
- Don’t put your hand near the light.
- Don’t change gels while the light is on.
- Uncoil cables
- Allow lights to cool before packing.
Misc.
- Don’t leave studio lights down, other people may fall into them.
- Be aware of the safety procedures.
- Bulbs Shattering
- Tripping on Cables
- Tidy up cables and kit.
Types of Lighting:
- High Key Lighting = Very Bright Overall, Not allot of contrast
- Low Key = Allot of contrast between light and shadow areas
- Soft / Hard Lighting
- Natural Light
- Stylized Lighting
When doing lighting you need to consider:
- Style - high key or low key?
- Contrast - high or low?
- Now Stylized - Natural looking or very theatrical?
- Set-Up - where keyed from? Where is the source?
- Quality of light - hard or soft?
- What is the intended source?
- What practicals are in the scene?
- What is the intended time of day?
- What mood is conveyed?
